Solved Newer Toshiba Laptop - Power Light is Orange

When you leave the battery to charge. Does the computers main battery light ever turn white to signify it is fully charged?
Why are you removing the battery from the laptop?

Here are how the lights should respond to certain conditions:

Glows amber while the main battery is being charged (AC adaptor connected)

Glows white when the main battery is fully charged

Is unlit when the main battery has discharged, the battery is not charging, or the AC adaptor is not plugged into the computer or AC outlet

Flashes amber when the main battery charge is low and it is time to recharge the main battery or plug in the AC adaptor

If the AC power light flashes amber during charging, either the main battery is malfunctioning, or it is not receiving correct input from the AC power supply

the main battery light should be unlit when the main battery has discharged, the battery is not charging, or the AC adaptor is not plugged into the computer or AC outlet

Why is my laptop not turning on but the indicator lights flash?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505D, that I’ve owned for almost six years now. The machine works great, and it’s my main workhorse. Earlier this year, it started experiencing trouble booting up.

When I press the power button, the indicator lights for power, battery, and charge are a steady green, however the hard drive light doesn’t even blink. Also the NUM-lock button and the CAPS-lock button flash, but don’t stay on. I can hear the fan spinning, and the drive as well, but the display doesn’t turn on.

I for sure know that it’s not a display issue, because I’ve tried using an external monitor, and that didn’t help. Also on boot, there is a distinct high speed fan and drive spinning sound that doesn’t happen when this issue occurs. The fan and drive appear to be on, but they spin at a much lower speed, so all they emit is a very low tone noise, enough to indicate they’re on.

Usually it will work after a few times of turning it off and on again, or if I press the F2 button repeatedly when booting up. Now, neither of these methods seem to work. I’ve tried powering it up with just the battery, or with the charger only and no battery, and still no dice.

I’ve tried re-seating the RAM sticks, switching their positions, cleaning them out, still no boot. I’ve even removed the drive to see if that was the issue, even plugging the drive into a different machine (which reads the drive with no problem), and again nothing seems to work.

Its been about a week since the last successful boot, and I have clientele work that I need to wrap up on there. Anyways, not sure what else to do, I’ve seen on here about the SHIFT+F8 combination on boot, I’ll try that, and perhaps other methods, but anything anyone can help with is greatly appreciated.

I’ve tried the SHIFT+F8 combination on power up, and that didn’t work either.

Laptop lights toshiba

Satellite C855D-S5354. I unplug it so the cat doesn't chew the cord. (silly I know) And no, I just unplug it. don't do a shut down, hmmm wonder if that would help... So, what happens is that I plug it back in, and it usually says 15 minutes to full charge, even tho it is dead before I plug it in. So it will start and I'll get the windows screen with the outdoor scene of the day, but in the bottom right corner the start button and another button is large, and when I hit enter, it should bring up the sign on screen, but it won't. So I hit either restart or shut down and so from there. Sometimes it takes a while to go thru the toshiba screen etc. Sometimes the big button come back and I have to do it again. When the smaller icon button is at the bottom, when I hit enter it will bring up the microsoft login screen and I can log in. I think the battery isn't holding a charge. I've had multitude of problems with this since windows 10 came and installed itself, even tho they said my laptop was compatible, Now all of a sudden they (microsoft) say it isn't. So It's crashed a couple of times, I've had to do a complete reinstall of both windows 8 and then windows 10. I think by now I could have just bought a new laptop., as ms charged me for both of those reinstalls with a cd.
Thanks for your help
