The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game Wiki Guide

Ancient Scrolls are not randomized and any given Ancient Scroll will always give the same cheat. There are 10 total Ancient Scrolls in the game, and this list is ordered the same as it appears in the Ancient Scrolls menu.

Ancient Scroll #1 (Ninjago City North)

The first Ancient Scroll, Master of Detection, is almost guaranteed to be acquired. During Chapter 2 - Ninjas Assemble, the a sliding path about 75% of the way through the stage will take you directly into it.

Master of Detection enables the Collectable Finder. When active, yellow arrows will point to Gold Bricks, green arrows will point to Character Tokens, and red arrows will point to Ancient Scrolls. These arrows will appear even during story mode but the presence of an arrow does not guarantee that a given Collectable can be acquired. Some Collectables must be acquired in Free Play while others need other specific requirements. Please consult any given stage's walkthroughs for more information on specific collectables.

Ancient Scroll #2 (Ninjago City Beach)

Return to the man who wanted his snowcone, then enter the destroyed store next to him. Wall run up both yellow walls. When you're on the roof of the building, face the camera away from the man's direction (even though he's on the ground below you). You'll see a thin yellow ledge against the adjacent building. Double-jump onto this ledge; as you can see in the screenshot above, you can stand on this yellow ledge and walk on it.

Walk on it to the right; you will not have to jump at the corner as your character will automatically make the turn. At the end of the yellow ledge, you'll see a gold handle above you. Jump to this and follow the handles up and to the right to horizontal poles, then swing to a post on which the Master of Summoning Ancient Scroll sits.

The Master of Summoning Ancient Scroll is nicknamed Stud Magnet. When active, it will attract any studs from much farther away. This is useful to get early, especially when grinding for studs to acquire the True Ninja Level Collectables.

Ancient Scroll #3 (Ninjago City Docks)

From where you start Free Play, walk into the depot and walk to the right. You'll see a large metal gate that you can open by hanging off a brown handle to its left.

Walk between the shipping crates until you find the road, then follow this road up the hill. If you're in the right place, a dojo will be nearby. Wall climb up the vertical red walls here to get to the roofs, then go left. If you're in the right place, you'll be near a crab sign (which indirectly leads to Character Token #3). From here, tight-rope walk from that roof to another one further along the street. After that, walk up a wooden plank to yet another roof. This roof is the one that Lloyd is standing on in the screenshot above.

On that roof will be a spring that is already built. Simply step on it to be launched toward the laser cage where the Ancient Scroll is being held. To the right of the laser cage is a switch that needs to be operated by Kai. After he activates the switch, use the other character to collect the Master of Speed scroll.

When active, the Master of Speed scroll significantly hastens how fast characters Quick Build and Multi Build piles of bricks, and interact with their hotspots. It also bypasses the need to play any of the minigames associated with hotspot interaction, such as Zane's Simon Says-like game when he hacks machines.

Ancient Scroll #4 (The Uncrossable Jungle)

From the start of Free Play, turn around and walk across the bridge. Turn right, drop down to the ledge, then walk across that bridge. Turn right and cross the third bridge; you'll be near the large pagoda there if you're in the right place.

Turn left and drop down to the next plateau. Turn left again and hop across posts to cross over the quicksand. Turn right and go up the hill, then you'll need to hop across three platforms to cross the quicksand in a different place.

If you're in the right spot, there are three paths before you. To your left is a large gold door that can be melted by Kai's Spinjitzu. To the right is a path to a different area. Between them is a vertical wall run, and that's where you need to go. Head up the wall to a different rocky ledge and walk right. You'll see an anchor point where you can swing across the gap to a wooden log. At the end of the log is the Master of Time scroll.

When active, the Master of Time scroll creates a sepia filter on the game to make it look like an old movie.

Ancient Scroll #5 (Automatic for Story Completion)

The fifth Ancient Scroll in the menu, Master of Endurance, is given to you automatically upon collecting your final Ninjanuity Token during Epilogue - Return to Ninjago City. Assuming you complete the story, this one is impossible to miss.

When active, the Master of Endurance scroll makes your character invincible. You can still shatter by falling off a cliff or into the quicksand of The Uncrossable Jungle, but enemy attacks will not harm you.

Ancient Scroll #6 (The Dark Ravine)

From the start of Free Play in The Dark Ravine, go left (relative to the camera's first angle) and use Nya's Spinjitzu to fill the capsule. This will create hopping points to get you across the initial gap. On the next rocky landing, cross the stream to the right, then drop down to the next ledge and continue to the right. There you'll see a green glow before another gap. Use Lloyd's Spinjitzu on the three sets of sharp spikes near you (two against the left wall and one on the right wall) to create posts that will let you hop across. Do so and run along the lateral wall, then use Cole's Spinjitzu to break the cracked wall on the next ledge. Behind that you'll acquire the Master of Elements Ancient Scroll.

When active, the Master of Elements scroll makes all characters who can use Spinjitzu turn their spells into "Universal Spinjitzu," which works no matter what element is needed. That is, all characters who can use Spinjitzu at all can then melt gold structures, freeze water, break cracked walls, fill water capsules, power up electric devices, and build structures in green lights. While your ninjas already collectively can do anything you need them to do, this will save you time from needing to switch from one ninja to another while chasing Collectables.

Ancient Scroll #7 (The Unclimbable Mountain)

Free Play at The Unclimbable Mountain begins at the end of the stage, so you'll need to turn around to get anywhere. The path is linear, and the Ancient Scroll is close by. Just before entering the cave that passes into the next area, look to the right against the rocks and you'll see a series of gold handles embedded there. Simply climb up them and follow them to a ledge with the scroll.

When active, the Master of Destruction scroll grants all characters the "Destroy on Contact" power. This means whenever the character merely touches an breakable object, it will immediately break and dump studs on the ground without requiring you to attack it. Destroy on Contact does not apply to any complex objects or golden structures you need to melt, nor any enemies.

Ancient Scroll #8 (Ninjago City Downtown)

In Free Play of Ninjago City Downtown, walk forward along the street and climb up the red walls to your left. Turn right and cross the gap, then turn left and stay on the roofs. Pass through the monorail tunnel, then follow the road until it goes up some stairs. Continue forward and you'll be at the monorail station.

Here you have two options: the guided way or the freeform way. If you trigger the race ring at the monorail station, then it will guide you almost directly to the Ancient Scroll. If you fall short of a gold medal, simply say you don't wish to retry the race and your character will stay nearby.

If you want to ignore the race, walk to the right around the building past the race ring. You'll see some scaffolding in an alley. Run up the rightmost red wall, then leap to the next level. Continue ascending the scaffolding until you reach the top. Ride the zipline there to the roof where you made robot arms at the very end of the story in Epilogue - Return to Ninjago City.

Cross over the robot arms to get to the bridge. Directly in front of you, double jump over the gap to another roof, then run along the lateral yellow wall. Repeat for the second wall and jump for a horizontal pole. Swing to a second, then swing again to another roof. Climb up the studs embedded in the wall there, then face left.

Whether you went to the spot manually or allowed the monorail station race to guide you, you will be standing near a pair of white pipes with blue stripes. Walk up to touch them, then press the jump button. Rather than jump, your character will somersault under the pipes. The Ancient Scroll, called the Master of Fortune, is on the other side.

While active, the Master of Fortune will double all stud values. When turned on while playing the Bonus Stage, you will gain studs very quickly. While certainly not mandatory, using this scroll while completing the Bonus Stage a few times can quickly help you grind up the last few levels to get all the True Ninja Level Collectables.

Ancient Scroll #9 (The Lost City of Generals)

At the start of Free Play in The Lost City of Generals you'll be standing on a large wooden platform. Beside you will be a large gold chest. Use Kai's Spinjitzu to melt it, then Quick Build the brick pile to create a rocket-launching catapult. Use Cole's hammer on the green hotspot to activate it, launching the rocket into the volcano. The Ancient Scroll will pop out after that.

When active, Master of the Forbidden Dance will activate Disco Mode! This is a cosmetic-only toggle that causes your characters, and any others nearby, to start dancing while multicolored spotlights flash around you. This doesn't help with making any combat or objectives easier, but it is a lot fun!

Ancient Scroll #10 (Complete All Dojos)

The final Ancient Scroll will be given to you automatically without fanfare if you achieve gold medal status on all nine dojos. You won't even see any pop-up graphics or other notifications that you acquired it, so you may not even realize it when you get it.

The tenth Ancient Scroll is called Master of the Dragon. When active, you have an infinite hit counter you can acquire when using the Rising Dragon technique. Although it has limited use by the time you get it, you can use it to quickly rack up a strong multiplier while collecting studs. Especially when paired with Ancient Scroll #8, it might help you get over the hump when you're trying to collect enough studs to achieve all your True Ninja Level Collectables.

The Incredible MCU That Time Forgot

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around long enough now that it's easy to take for granted. But it's not the first time a shared universe of Marvel Comics characters showed up on screen. No, the FIRST MCU was in the '80s. Spinning out of the smash hit The Incredible Hulk, Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno took their small screen superhero act to the next level. This is the Inside Story of the original shared Marvel world, The Incredible MCU That Time Forgot. The mini-doc features the Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno, along with Eric Allan Kramer who played Thor, the original Daredevil Rex Smith, Elizabeth Gracen whose spy Jasmin was for all intents and purposes Black Widow, and writer Gerald Di Pego, who scripted two of the three films. The cast and crew talk about the original series, coming back with The Return of the Incredible Hulk, and riding that success through The Trial of The Incredible Hulk before wrapping up the trilogy with The Death of The Incredible Hulk. The Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu, also known as the Forbidden Scrolls, were two scrolls of paper that contain the dark powers of Forbidden Spinjitzu. Young Wuand Garmadonused the scrolls to defeat Aspheera.

A thousand years later, Aspheera returned and found the first scroll only for the ninja to find the second one. A climactic battle erupted until Zane used the scroll to freeze Aspheera and the Pyro Vipers, However, Aspheera used her scroll to banish Zane back in time to the Never-Realm alongside the second scroll right before he saves Wu. Afterward, P.I.X.A.L. used Aspheera's staff to send the ninja to the Never-Realm to save Zane. He had spent around 60 years in the Never-Realm in exile, turning the naginata with the second scroll into his personal scepter after becoming the Ice Emperor by Vex who wiped out his memories, while using it to enslave the realm. However, Zane destroys it upon regaining his memories.

History

The Book of Spinjitzu

The story told here is different from the series.

When Wu and Garmadon were young, they were searching in their father's library trying to find a cookbook to replace their regular meal of noodles. Garmadon found a book called The Art of Broth, and when he picked it up a scroll fell out. Garmadon picked the scroll up and said that it felt hot. He tried to read it, though Wu did not want to. Their father came in and took it from Garmadon. He told them never to touch the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu and ordered them to leave.

The next day, Garmadon went back to the library to find the scroll. Garmadon stated that he did it because it was "calling" him. Wu did not tell their father, though he followed his brother. Garmadon became frustrated when it was not there, to Wu's relief. Wu wanted to know what secrets it held, though not as much as Garmadon. Eventually, they found and read it, and the young Wu wrote its secrets into his journal. Many years later, a wiser Wu realized that the scroll's secrets should never have been revealed, and placed a seal over them in his journal so that it could not be seen.

Prior to Secrets of the Fobidden Spinjitzu

In the ancient past, when Wu and Garmadon were children, the First Spinjitzu Master wrote the two scrolls that contained the power of Forbidden Spinjitzu. The Master forbade the brothers from using them, but they wielded the scrolls in order to defeat the Pyro Viper, Aspheera, and her followers. The First Spinjitzu Master was angry that they disobeyed, and hid them. Ages later, the scrolls would be discovered by archaeologists.

Snaketastrophy

During Snaketastrophy, an Elemental Cobra revealed to Aspheera that the Ninjago Museum of History was presenting the first Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu as one of its artifacts. After Aspheera heard of this, she began to plan to use on Wu.

Powerless

The ninja except Kai start their way to one of the scrolls to stop Aspheera. They make it to the Hall H first and Lloyd grabs it, increasing his powers. Nya knocks into the scroll out of his hands, but the Pyro Vipers find them shortly after and a battle starts. During the battle, Aspheera steals the scroll.

Ancient History

While Nya was distracting the Pyro Vipers, Lloyd tried to steal the scroll by grabbing it, but Aspheera defeats him. Meanwhile, Acidicus tells the story of Aspheera's rule over Ninjago, saying that Ashpeera was corrupted by the scroll.

Under Siege

Aspheera uses the scroll within her staff to disarm the monastery and starts breaking in.

The Explorers Club

After escaping from security guards from the Explorers Club, Nya, Lloyd, and Zane find the second scroll and headed back towards the monastery.

Vengeance is Mine!

Lloyd is seen holding scroll in the Land Bounty when Nya tries to get him to put it down, yells at her in a demonic tone, he later apologizes and reluctantly puts it down. Meanwhile, Aspheera breaks into the hangar bay and uses the scroll to teleport the Titan Mech, shortly after a battle between the snake queen and the Ninja (with the exception of Nya and Kai) with the second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu starts with Aspheera defeating everyone except Zane. But before she is defeated, Ashpeera tries to teleport Wu, but fails as Zane takes the blast.

Corruption (flashback)

Vex witnesses Zane use the scroll to take the Titan Mech into the Ice Cave. Vex tries to use it as well, but it doesn’t respond to him, as he lack power. Shortly after removing Zane's memories, he gives the scroll to Zane and they start their way to Grimfax. With the scroll, Zane dethrones Grimfax, makes the winter harsher and becomes the Ice Emperor.

A Cold Goodbye

This section is a stub. You can help expand this section by adding some information.

My Enemy, My Friend

When Lloyd was presented to the Ice Emperor by Vex, he saw the scroll within the staff and was shocked to realize that the Ice Emperor was Zane.

A Fragile Hope

After Lloyd recognized Zane as the Ice Emperor, he realized that the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu had corrupted for several years, and tried to convince him to let go of it. Vex, however, lied to Zane that Lloyd wanted to steal the scepter for himself.

Once and for All

Akita attempted to kill Zane, but he woke up and freezed Akita's hand with the scroll.

Awakenings

After Vex said "protect", Zane remembered who he was and destroys his scepter and the second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, freeing the Never-Realm from his tyranny.

Powers

  • Power Augmentation - The Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu can increase a user's powers. The Forbidden Spinjitzu is incredibly stronger than regular Spinjitzu. It increased Lloyd's power to fire an energy ball hat made a hole in a wall and increased Zane's power to the point where was able to single-handedly defeat Aspheera and her army. Another example was he used it to take over the Never-Realm. Increasing an elemental power cause the elemental master to emit fire hair and glowing eyes, which the color matches the Elemental Master's signature color.
    • Power Bestowal - Due to The Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu increasing it user's power, it gives its user incredible power, as Wu stated it "gave us powers we had never felt before. It felt as if we had reach our true potential in an instant". The Scroll also seemly resorted Kai's Fire for a brief moment when he held it though this could be an animation error.
    • Corruption Inducement - Consequently, the scrolls induces aggression and corruption, seemingly causing users to become addicted to it via prolonged usage until the user turns evil. It slowly corrupts the user with prolonged usage and requires great will-power to overcome.
  • Realm and Time Traveling - The Forbidden Scroll can banish or send someone/something to another realm and time. Aspheera first demonstrated this by sending the Titan Mech and Zane to the Never-Realm, around 60 years into the past.[1] P.I.X.A.L. also used it to send the ninja to the Never-Realm in the present.
  • Elemental creation - The scroll increased an Elemental Master's powers to allow the user to create things alive out of out of their respective element and control them[2], as Zane was able to use his powers to create and control the Blizzard Sword Masters, Blizzard Archers, and Boreal.

Trivia

  • The Ninjargon text written on the scroll translates to "The Forbidden Art."
  • The scroll is written in a seemingly older script, and there are commonly dashes where there should be dots and vice versa.
  • Before Zane destroyed the second Forbidden Scroll, there were two Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu.
    • One was at the Ninjago Museum of History until it was stolen by Aspheera, and the other was with the Explorers Club until it was stolen by Lloyd, Zane, and Nya, and later sent to the Never-Realm with Zane, where Vex claims it as Zane's scepter. Upon regaining his memories, Zane destroys it.
    • As of now, there is only one Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu left, as Zane destroyed the second one when he got his memories back.
  • It changes color when it corresponds with a different power.
  • As mentioned in "Ancient History," the power of the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu can be used to send someone or something to another realm and/or time period, as shown in "Under Siege," "Vengeance is Mine!," and "A Cold Goodbye."
    • However, it's currently unknown if the scroll can only banish or send someone or something to the Never-Realm or any realm.
    • It was also revealed in a live-chat that it could also send someone or something into a different time period.[3]
  • The Scroll can channel any power, not just Elemental Powers.[4]
    • This was seen in "A Cold Goodbye" when P.I.X.A.L. possess the scroll.
    • When asked why Vex could not use the forbidden scroll, Tommy Andreasen replied that Vex had little power to use the scroll.[5]
  • The Forbidden Scrolls appears to corrupt people, as shown in "Vengeance is Mine!" when Lloyd yelled at Nya in a demonic tone, and when Zane hesitated to give the Scroll to Wu.
    • The scroll has a greater effect on those who are "pure."[6]
      • This explains why the Forbidden Scroll had no effect on Garmadon and Aspheera when they held it while the scroll briefly corrupted Master Wu and Lloyd, and turned Zane evil.
    • As shown in "Corruption," the Forbidden Scrolls can also corrupt Elemental Powers, as Zane used his scepter to corrupt Grimfax's army and turned them into Blizzard Warriors.
    • It appears the user must have a strong will to resist the effects, as seen with Lloyd in "Vengeance is Mine!" and Zane in "Corruption."
  • It appears to not work on regular people, as Kai tried to use it against Aspheera in "Vengeance is Mine!," when his powers were stolen, and when Vex tried to use it against Zane in "Corruption."
  • The surrounding power behind any of the ninja looks similar to the Super Saiyan transformation aura in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super.
  • There were several scrolls on the First Spinjitzu Master's desk, two of which were the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu. It is unknown what the rest of them were.
  • The scrolls are similar to the One Ring from The Lord of the Rings, because both are powerful artifacts that can gradually corrupt its user.
  • These scrolls are the first element from a book to be introduced in the TV series, followed by Fred Finely. Both were introduced in Season 11.

The Ninjago Scrolls or Spinjitzu Scrolls contain information about the art of Spinjitzu. Neido gives the player a mission to find ten of them hidden around Crux Prime. When all of the scrolls are collected, Neido gives the player a mission to interact with the Shrine and read the scrolls. Once read, he will give the player the Spinjitzu Staff, which lets the player charge up to use Spinjitzu.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 1

Long, long ago, the First Spinjitzu Master created the 4 Weapons of Spinjitzu:

The Scythe of Quakes. The Nunchuks of Lightning. The Shurikens of Ice. The Sword of Fire.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 2

The Master's sons swore to protect the Weapons, but the oldest son was consumed by darkness.

He became Lord Garmadon.

Garmadon was banished to the Underworld by his younger brother, Sensei Wu.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 3

Sensei Wu found 4 brave Minifigures and trained them in the Art of Spinjitzu.

They learned to harness the power of the 4 elements: Earth, Lightning, Ice and Fire.

Together with their Sensei, the 4 Ninjas became the protectors of Ninjago.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 4

Lord Garmadon, working with General Samukai and his army of Skeletons, invaded the world of Ninjago to search for the Weapons of Spinjitzu.

However, the Ninjas found the Weapons first.

Samukai was destroyed, Garmadon was banished once more, and the Weapons were kept safe within the Ninjago Monastery.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 5

Lord Garmadon's fury echoed across the Universe, and it attracted the attention of an immensely evil being. He whispered to Garmadon of a powerful essence that could aid him in his war…

Intrigued, Lord Garmadon ordered General Nuckal into the deep reaches of space.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 6

Sensei Wu, always watchful of his evil brother, tasked a Ninja to follow General Nuckal and his forces.

That Ninja guardian, named Neido, followed the Skeletons to a mysterious planet. There, he found that the Skeletons had already set up a large mining operation.

Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 7

Neido built a small Monastery refuge to keep him safe. It was attacked, again and again, by the Skeletons.

Luckily, Neido was finally able to ward them off with a brand-new form of Spinjitzu magic, which was inspired by a powerful force found throughout the Universe.

Neido had mastered Imagination Spinjitzu!

Update Information

Before the Ninjago Monastery update, the Ninjago content in LEGO Universe had a different story. Sensei Wu sent players to find the scrolls as Neido did not yet exist, and the text of the scrolls was different:

The Art of Spinjitzu, Part 1

Focus your energy and Imagination to become a whirling tornado of Spinjitzu!

Charge your attack when armed with a weapon of Spinjitzu.

Spinjitzu requires Imagination, and will drain it while you remain in tornado form.

The Art of Spinjitzu, Part 2

If you find that normal weapon attacks do little damage against Skeletons, try Spinjitzu instead!

Attacks with a Spinjitzu weapon do much more damage to Skeletons.

When you're in tornado Spinjitzu form, Skeletons are knocked back by your power!

Release a charged Spinjitzu attack to smash Skeletons to pieces!

The Art of Spinjitzu, Part 3

Maelstrom enemies are curiously resistant to Spinjitzu attacks.

You may try to use Spinjitzu to defeat them, but a normal weapon attack may work much better.

Save your Spinjitzu for the Skeletons!

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 1

Long, long ago, the First Spinjitzu Master created 4 magical Golden Weapons.

The Staff of Quakes.

The Shuriken of Ice.

The Nunchakus of Lightning.

The Sword of Fire.

Weapons so powerful, no one could handle their power at once - except for the Master.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 2

The Master's sons swore to protect the Golden Weapons, but the oldest son was consumed by darkness.

He became Lord Garmadon.

Garmadon was banished to the Underworld by his younger brother, who hid the Golden Weapons and kept them safe.

The younger brother was Sensei Wu.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 3

Sensei Wu found 4 brave Minifigures and trained them in the Art of Spinjitzu.

They learned to harness the power of the 4 elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire.

Together with their Sensei, the 4 Ninjas became the protectors of Ninjago.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 4

Deep within the Underworld, Lord Garmadon gathered an army of Skeletons, led by the terrible General Samukai.

The Skeletons invaded the world of Ninjago, searching for the 4 Golden Weapons.

They found the 4 Ninjas instead.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 5

After many fierce battles with the Skeleton army, the 4 Ninjas recovered the Golden Weapons.

They returned them to the safety of their mountaintop Monastery - and waited for the Skeletons to come.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 6

The Skeletons attacked with ferocious strength, but they were no match for the might of Spinjitzu.

However, the Monastery could not be protected from the Skeletons' monstrous machines. The walls came tumbling down.

The 4 Ninjas escaped to safety with the Golden Weapons, once again keeping them safe from the Skeletons.

The Legend of Ninjago, Part 7

Sensei Wu used his powers to steer the last remaining piece of the Monastery away from Ninjago and out into the Universe...

...towards a beacon of light and hope and Imagination.

Towards the Nexus Force.
