I am studying Chaco Indian culture and their use of astronomy. They based construction project on lunar position and knew of the moon's 18.5 year cycle.

Comment/Request
It would be great if you included a moon nadir and a negative moon elevation to the existing calculator with the three moon positions so that we can see moon nadir, moon zenith, moonrise and moonset all at once. Timeanddate.com offer that option but do not offer an option to find the moon's 4 times and altitudes in the middle of the ocean using latitude and longitude only.

Purpose of use
I wanted to find out how moon rise is calculated jut to find out whether moon will be visibile on the sky at Cochin on 2 nd of August to ensure that Idul Fitre falls on 11.8.19 at kochi so tyhat a training schedule ( from 12.8.19 to 14.8.19) is not disrupted . In case the moon is not seen on 2nd august the 10 th of the Hijra month will fall on 12.6.19 making it a hooliday.

Moonrise, Moonset

The moon is shown in the diagram as it orbits Earth, which is also orbiting the sun. Lines are drawn to represent the orbit paths.

As Earth orbits the Sun, the Moon orbits Earth. It takes about 30 days for one complete phase change (actually 29 2days). Compare this to how long it takes Earth to orbit the Sun one time: 365.24 days. Consider our word, “month”, with its roots from the term moonth. As the Moon orbits Earth, its moonrise and moonset times change each day, as does the phase of the Moon we see.

When you check moonrise time over several days or a period of time, you will notice that the Moon rises later each day. That is because the Moon is orbiting Earth. The difference each day is fairly consistent, but has several variables like your latitude. The time of day that the Moon rises or sets depends on its phase.

If you consider why we see the Moon go through its phases, the time of day when the Moon rises or sets should make sense. The phase of the Moon we see depends on the positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun relative to each other. So, when the Moon is full, the Earth is between the Moon and Sun; the Sun is setting and the Full Moon is rising. (1)
